River Trust

On Thursday 17th November, Year 5 were lucky enough to have Dan and Cait from The River Trust visit for the afternoon.
We completed several activities that encouraged us to think about how we can look after our rivers, how rivers are formed and how they become polluted. The afternoon taught us how to test the cleanliness of water and locate rivers around our area using maps. Thank you Dan and Cait, it definitely gave us all something to think about!

We enjoyed a lovely KS1 Sports day on Tuesday.

Year 1 & 2 Visit Butterfly World

What a lovely morning we had at Butterfly World! It was such a shame it rained though and we couldn’t go to the amazing park nearby. Maybe next time…

We learnt all about the cycle of a butterfly, which was very interesting. We got to see each stage of the cycle in real-life as we walked round Butterfly World. We also got to see the cheeky and sleepy meerkats. They were very funny!

Furthermore, there were creepy crawlies like snakes and big scary spiders; luckily they were in their own tank! Phew!

There were gigantic fish too, all with different coloured scales. Beautiful.

We had our lunch on the bus due to the bad weather and then steadily made our way back to school, a little earlier than intended.

A super trip.

Liverpool, day 2

What a fab day! These children are so enthusiastic about everything they do – we have rocked in 60s style at the Beatles museum today, taken the ferry across the Mersey and explored a German U-Boat (sitting very carefully on the torpedo!).

We finished the day off with a trip to the cinema to watch the fantastic Alice through the Looking Glass. A brilliant day enjoyed by all!

Liverpool 2016

A good first day in Liverpool! Interesting visit to the Maritime Musuem, exploring the Titanic and slavery exhibitions. We turned into Customs Officers in the basement, too, deciding who might be a smuggler and what we should do with them! After a yummy chicken burrito tea with chocolate pudding, we walked into the city then back to the youth hostel for Mr G’s quiz. After the results had been counted and verified, the winning team enjoyed their victory with a Haribo prize. Hot chocolate and supper led to a quiet and restful night ready for a busy day on Thursday. More to follow…!

Sport Relief 2016

On Friday 18th March, the whole school raised money for Sport Relief. Everyone came to school in something red or sporty and then we all took part in a run around the school. The Year 6s did some brilliant Maths work to work out that we needed to do four laps of the school in order to make one mile. During the run, the older children and younger children worked together in pairs to encourage and support each other. All of the hard work paid off as everyone completed the mile in less than 30 minutes! More importantly, we raised a fantastic £225.85 for Sport Relief. Thank you to all of our parents and children for supporting such a great cause.

Carlton Lodge Day 3

Final day today at Carlton Lodge and yet another fun filled experience for all.

After a long day yesterday and a good night’s sleep, the children had to pack their bags, tidy their rooms, strip their beds and make their own lunch again… so now there’s no excuse when they get home!

All the activities were highly enjoyable and fun; the children have had an amazing time experiencing new adventures, learning new skills and working together as a team. Although the class were already a successful team, they have effortlessly strengthened their friendships and supported one-another consistently. On behalf of myself, Miss Burn and Mr Greenway, we were all immensely proud of Year 4; they took part in all activities, they were motivated, enthusiastic, fun, polite and considerate of others- we couldn’t ask for any more! Thank you Year 4, you are a credit to the school and your families. 🙂

A big thank you to all the staff at Carlton Lodge who once again looked after us all and made our time so enjoyable.

Have a lovely weekend Year 4 🙂
