On Friday 26th June, Miss Richardson and her year 1 class and Mrs Dinsdale with her year 2 class, visited the National Railway Museum in York. We had an amazing time and saw lots of different trains of all shapes and sizes from different eras. It was so interesting! Hope you like the photos!
Today we competed in the annual Cluster Sports competition at Wensleydale School. Over 60 children from Years 3-6 took part in a range of athletic events including: relay, sprint, javelin, shot putt and long distance running. We had a great time and we won over 15 of the events. This was a brilliant way to finish off a great year of sport at Leyburn CP School; a year in which we have taken part in more events than ever before.
Thank you to all of the children who have shown fantastic team-work and determination in all of the sporting events this year – you really have been a credit to our school. Bring on next year!
Our final day at Carlton Lodge was completed with fun yet relaxing activities. The children took part in bushcraft, archery, problem solving and a challenge course. To end their stay the children did a fantastic job of tidying up, stripping their beds, making their own sandwiches and packing their bags. Although everyone was sad to be leaving, they were all eager to get back to their families.
This was an unforgettable trip; all the children pushed themselves out of their comfort zone and faced their fears, whilst creating memories that will last a lifetime! The children behaved very well and were a credit to the school and their families 🙂 Well done Year 4, it was a pleasure to take you all to Carlton Lodge and we all thoroughly enjoyed your company!
Day 2 began with a very early morning wake up call, followed by a delicious full English breakfast. Each group then took part in a variety of exciting activities, including: zip wire, high ropes (leap of faith), bushcraft, challenge course, raft building and kayaking. At the end of the day to cool off, everyone jumped off the jetty into the refreshing lake!
The day was perfectly rounded off with a scavenger hunt and a (friendly) football match…which the teachers won, obviously! A hot chocolate and popcorn helped us unwind and sent the children off nicely to sleep. Another exciting morning awaits tomorrow for our final day here at Carlton Lodge. Love Year 4 x
Well what a day!
We arrived safely (but hot!) and got straight to the fun stuff… making our beds! Miss Burn, Miss Hill and Mr Greenway had a good chuckle at some of the attempts, but everyone is tucked up asleep as I write this! We had our picnics outside then got straight into our first activities!
The children were raft building, kayaking and scaling the high ropes! The weather was extreme, scorching temperatures then a tropical thunder storm! The thunder storm required us to change our plans for the remainder of the afternoon, all the children headed inside to go rock climbing. After such a high intensity afternoon everyone was ready for some hard earned dinner, which was delicious and most had second helpings!
We ended the day with a calming nightwalk through the Carlton Miniott countryside.
Everyone is very excited for tomorrow and the alarms are set ready! More to follow tomorrow, hope you enjoy the pictures! Love Year 4 x
