Autumnal Poems inspired by Pie Corbett

The leaves are turning golden and the nights are closing in. Conkers are dropping and squirrels are scurrying. It can only mean one thing…Autumn is here already!

Last week class 4 were inspired by the poet Pie Corbett’s ‘Imagine’ free-verse poem. We studied his tricks and tips to create amazing Autumnal poems. We learnt how to write a free-verse poem that includes: no rhyming, a repeating phrase or line, a mixture of short and long sentences, alliteration, onomatopoeia and much, much more!

The children even went on nature walks to inspire them, collecting pages of ideas. With all this in mind, the class have produced fantastic poems. We hope you enjoy reading them, as much as we did writing them!
